Grandma’s traditional remedy for a cough

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb of red or purple onions
  • 1 lb of brown sugar
  • 2 medium lemons
  • 6 cups of water
  • 7 tablespoons of raw honey

Preparing this home remedy for a cough

Add the brown sugar to a large skillet and preheat on medium heat, moving constantly until it is a nice golden color. Next, add the sliced onion, cook for a few minutes, and then add the water.

Let the mixture boil on medium heat until the liquid is reduced to one third. Let it cool for a little while. Use this time to juice the lemons and reserve the juice. Add the honey and lemon juice to the mixture and stir well. Let sit over night; in the morning, strain the liquid and store it in a glass jar.

How to use this home remedy:

Take a tablespoon before each meal. After finishing, take another dose. Repeat the treatment until your lungs feel better. Children should take a teaspoon of the liquid before each meal.
